Full day Ephesus Tour includes a visit to the ancient city Ephesus, which was one of the largest cities in the Mediterranean world. One of the greatest of the Ionian cities, it became the leading seaport of the region. Its wealth was proverbial. The Greek city was near an old center of worship of a native nature goddess, who was equated with the Greek Artemis, and c.550 B.C. a large temple was built. Ephesus was the trade centre of the ancient world, a religious centre of the early Christianity and today. It was one of the seven churches of Asia that are cited in the Book of Revelation. There you will be able to see the Hadrian’s, Trajan’s and the Domitian’s Temples, the huge Roman bath, Harbour Street, the Marble Street, The Gate of Mazeus and Mythridates, Commercial Agora, Latrine, the Scholastica Baths, Curetes Street, Pollio Fountain, Memmius Monument, the Prytaneion, Odeon, the State Agora, the Celcus Library and The Great Theater, which is the largest in Anatolia.

During the tour you will visit Terrace Houses, also called as “the houses of rich”; they give us information about family life during the Roman period. Ephesus Terrace Houses are covered with protective roofing which resembles Roman houses. The mosaics on the floor and the frescos have been consolidated and two houses have been opened to the public as a museum.

The Artemis Temple is one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Today one can only see the ruins of the foundations of this marvelous construction of the Hellenistic Age, entirely made of marble and full of sculptured columns’ capitals and shafts. The most beautiful remains of this temple are today exhibited in the London British Museum.

Didyma was an ancient Ionian shrine. It was the most renowned oracle of the Hellenic world containing a temple and an oracle of Apollo. Miletus is an ancient city located at the mouth of the Buyuk Menderes (Meander) River. Miletus owed its importance to its strategic position on the trade routes. Highly prosperous, it founded many colonies and was the home of the ancient philosophers Anaximander, Anaximenes and Thales, the town planner Hippodamus and architect Isidorus.

The tour includes demonstration of traditional Turkish handicraft at the carpet weaving center. Shopping there is optional.

The tour ends at the Kusadasi port/hotel.
